How much is the effect of alcohol on my fitness level?

I am an athlete and I play pro basketball at my local club. I also am an occasional jogger and love to play other sports as well. But occasionally I go out on weekends and consume alot of alcohol. Im talking about beer, rum, tequila, vodka, and many other kinds! I dont get to the state of getting drunk, because I usually stop when I feel like Im getting there. I know that alcohol cant be good in any form, but I just would like to know what kind of damage are we talking about here? I have an almost perfect fitness level according to recent tests, but I wasnt consuming much alcohol then as well.

Now Im planning to take a vacation and I KNOW that ill be drinking alot, therfore I would like to know what are the given consequences if any with regards to my fitness level.

Thanks for the input.

Drinking affects fitness in the following ways:

It interferes with cardio-respiratory fitness; heart and lungs work less efficiently
It directly damages muscle groups
It can lead to increased weight
It increases the risk of accidents and injuries
It damages the immune system, making you more susceptible to infection
It increases the time needed to recover from injuries and illnesses
It causes dehydration, making exercise dangerous and unpleasant
Exercising when you still have alcohol in you can cause a heart attack, kidney failure, cramping, even convulsions.

but most things, done in moderation, are OK.

Enjoy your vacation and bring me something back!

fitness testing?

i dont Independant P.E. at my school and i got fitness testing tomorro. we have to run a mile and im not that good at long distance. tips for mile running?im fine with the rest of the testing

Just listen to your body and don’t go too fast to begin with. The best thing to do is to begin steady, relax and control your breathing, then if you feel you can speed up then do so. Save a little bit of energy for the last bit, then really push yourself and don’t let your body give up, you have more mental strength than you think
good luck x

Help me choose between these fitness wii games?

Wich one is better because I want to loose weight and have fun but I cant buy them all.

Im want to buy Wii Fit and other game but I cant choose between EA Sports active, Gold’s Gym cardio Workout and My Fitness coach.
Which of these games is better for me??

Gold’s Gym Cardio and My Fitness Coach are based on the same engine. I have no issues with any of the games other than EA SPorts Active, which having read other peoples reviews I don’t recognise the game I’ve tried playing.

If you’re used to fitness classes I’d go for My Fitness Coach, if you want an activity based workout, go for Gold’s Gym Cardio, and if you fancy some beginners Pilates and Yoga go for Wii Fit.

If on the otherhand you want to stare a beautifully drawn characters on static backgrounds, with tutors you have to learn to follow after what seems a random delay, If you like being nagged, and like your workouts dissjointed and to contain moves that require ceilings in excess of 9ft off the ground, and non-intuitive moves that are never the same between two games.

Looking to get one of the wii fitness games?

are they good? which one should I get? I know theres one with Juliana ultimate fitness theres the wii fit and I think one more.

Yes they are good. I would suggest Wii Fit Plus it is the latest version of the Wii Fit. I think it is brilliant. There are so many different activities and they are so complex. You can do Yoga, Muscle Workouts, Balance Game and a lot more. Plus with the latest game there is this feature called My Wii Fit Plus where you select what part of your body you want to improve and it will give you a few activities that are suggested for whatever part of your body.

What level of fitness do you have to be at to become a trainee fitness instructor/personal trainer?

Do you need to be super fit and super thin and will they do a fitness test at interviews??

Think of it this way, would you go to a hairdresser with bad hair? How about a tattoo artist with no tattoos? Get my point?

You should be in good shape to be a trainer.
