How many lbs of weights should a woman be lifting?
When I watch fitness shows I see that women are lifting with 5 lbs weights. I read a book that said you should increase the weights after so long. I do not want to bulk up just get the strength traing. Should I just stay at 5 lbs and do lots of reps as a women?
you can go up to 10 pounds without “bulking up” Honestly you wont get much strength just lifting 5 pounds, you can work up to 15-20 pounds, and not get huge, just keep the toned defined look with high repetition workouts!
How do you know what is the best type of fitness equipment and the best place to buy it from?
I like the bowflex commercials and so forth for example. Plus the pilates gym stuff looks good and then the treadmill or cycles look good. I see them for sale everywhere! Qvc has some of the same products as advertised on the products own webpage for example. So where is the best place or store to buy equipment from? I see many at Wal-Mart, Sears, online… everywhere. I want one for strength training/toning and one for cardio. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I want to invest in something that will last and give me good results.
I needed cardio with little to no impact so I purchased a Gazelle Elite Glider (Fitness Quest) I really like it & I can do toning on it as well.
My husband really likes his Total Gym Platinum because it uses his own body weight as resistance.
He almost got the Bowflex, but they were recalled because the bows had broken of some of them & they are big & bulky. They almost need a room to themselves.
As for choosing the right one, I think it is up to you & what you are looking for in the equipment you buy. Also, the room you have to accomodate the equipment. And price of course….
I have a recumbent stationary bike for home use, and it stinks! There is no removable parts to wash. I assume the smell is in the seat and back and the grip things on the handles, but dont know what to do to remove it.
Lysol was the best answer if you don’t wish to get your hands wet. If you don’t mind, then try a bucket of water w/bleach and your favorite scented anything after. Wipe down EVERYTHING on the bike especially those things you believe may be hosting the scent. Use VERY hot water so that it dries rather quickly. Then spray it with your favorite scented spray or wipe it down with your favorite scented oil.
