best fitness programs for men
What is the best way to start a career in personal training?

Should I start with Online study courses like ACT, or attend a School such as CNI, or start working for a health club (Bally’s, 24 Hr Fitness, etc…) and learn by programs offered by them? Which certifications are the best recognized in the industry? I’m a middle age man looking to make a career change from an office cubicle into a fitness career.

Thanks for your input!

ACSM or WITS certs.

Programs are typically offered at local colleges, just check with the advisers.

fitness tv program
Has anyone seen TV commercial on fitness program for 12$ with no contract?

It is supposed to be a program with classes, somewhere in the U.S. I can never catch the phone number they are giving, and I did not see their web site either. It looks something like this: 1-800-USA- Lucillia. Can anyone help me find that program, please? I will appreciate it! Thank you in advance.

Its a Lucille Roberts workout program thing, and their number is 1-800-USA-Lucille.

fitness for 10 florida
I am going to Florida. Need help 10 points for the best answer.?

I want to shed some pounds. Each morning we are leaveing the hotel at 8:00. The hotel has a fitness room. How long should I work out each day and on what?
Personally I love the treadmill. But I could lift weights and I am not running around the town I don’t know a thing about it duh that is wh yI am just going there
Hey kap’n why is that huh? You don’t know me so not everyone can’t lose weight on a vacation so you don’t know and you definatly are not a top contributor in my mind.
Wow allmost all your answers were good ones so I can not pick so when it goes into voting pick your favorite answer

Work out about 45 mins on the treadmill. Then lift some weights. Then, if they have one, go in the sauna.

i’m interested in working as firefighter? tips help im college student lost in life?

last 2 yrs of my life ive been lost and kind of a mess.

im a psych major at northeastern university. ive been dropping classes for last two yrs and just not focused because i had no idea what i want to do. i came up with the hopes of becoming EMT, then doing some work with that and trying to apprentice at fire department in boston.

im a smart guy got 1250 on SAT (not great but gives u idea of some aptitude) im a fitness nut i do triathlons and on my univ judo team. anyways thats what ive been doing instead of school for last 2 yrs.

what does it take (upstairs and literally) to become a firefighter. if i eventually want to go into psychology after doing fire department for less then 10 yrs is that practical.???????????/

sorry this is so long you guys i just came up with this (fits my lifestyle) and its new in my mind i want to see some otherperspectives???

thank you sooo much in advance

-Justin

Hey Justin,
You are starting early with a goal which is good. Look on the Boston FD website.
http://www.cityofboston.gov/fire/hiring.asp
They will be testing soon. This page also has a list of requirements. Start the process now. Often guys will spend years testing before getting hired. The testing process is long and very competitive. Don’t just test for BFD, look into all the smaller cities surrounding Boston. Where else would you like to live? Test there too. The more you test and don’t get hired, you will be learning the process and becoming a better candidate.
If you’ve ever thought about the military you would have extra points on your firefighter test with an honorable discharge

As for a “normal” lifestyle trying to do psychology and firefighting: Think of the time requirement to do your psychology work, you would have to arrange that work around your ff schedule and I imagine psychology work could be quite time consuming. Can you think how your family would suffer while you were gone overnight on your ff shifts and off to psychology work all the other weekdays. And don’t forget, to be your best at either/both jobs you will need to keep up in your training and studies that happen outside of work. That would leave little time for your social/artistic/personal side — which is essential and beneficial for your firefighting job anyway.
