What should I add to my fitness routine on the elliptical trainer?
I do 35-50 min. a day on the elliptical trainer and feel pretty good, firm, etc. Workout feels pretty complete as is but I wonder if I’m missing something. Slipped disc means just about all stretching is out so no yoga, pilates beyond a few acu-yoga moves for pain relief. I also walk a lot, swim and may take up skating again this year. Snapping shoulders are a bit of a concern. Any ideas?
I think some kind of resistance training is always good - scratch that, almost a necessity- to include in your routine. If you’re trying to lose fat, more lean muscle = a faster metabolism = more calories burned throughout the day. If you’re trying to gain muscle, well, weight training is going to have the biggest impact on that.
Try a basic routine, maybe a machine circuit they have at your gym, to get you going if you’re new to weight training. I’m not just saying this because I’m a trainer, but having a personal trainer map out a plan for you and show you how to do everything right is really so, so worth it.

Yoga or Fencing?
I’m registering for college classes, and I’m looking for a Kinesiology class. I’m interested in Beginning Fitness Yoga or Beginning Fencing for my first hour.
Beginning Fitness Yoga course description- “This course is designed for fitness enthusiasts who want a workout as well as receiving many of the benefits of traditional yoga. Students will strengthen and stretch muscles while improving flexibility, body alignment, and breathing techniques.”
Beginning Fencing course description- “This course provides instruction in the basic fundamentals of movement and simple offense and defense with foil as well as explanation of rules for foil fencing.”
I need two hours of Kinesiology, and I’d probably prefer to take one of the above, and its intermediate course, rather than both Beginning Fitness Yoga and Beginning Fencing.

You can do Yoga at home on your own without any equipment, but not fencing. Also you need much more personal training with fencing. Yoga skills can be easily improved by reading the right books.
So I would chose fencing. It´s fun, very athletic and no sport for the stupid. ….just like Yoga, damned!

gym instructor?
Hi I absolutely love the gym and participating in fitness classes and would like to become an instructor of the Les Mills training programs. Ive done some research on the actual process but I’d really like some honest feedback from other instructors as to their likes, dislikes and what the job really entails. Also what is the average rate of pay per class etc. I live in Perth Western Australia.

28 - 29 grand a year is the average. prices vary from 7-15 upwards.
Its annoying having to stick to his concept. Which Is why I registered my self as free style.
Les Mills only looks out for Les Mills. Don’t rely on just his techniques. You’ll get bored out of your brains.
